Contemporary archives contain the current past year's photos. These archives only contain selected photos based on the months they where taken.
The historical archives cover various subjects and areas of the country from the past 20 plus years.
Photographer Notes
Having photographed railroads for more than 30 years, I've see a lot of change, both in the subject and the media that is used to share images. Many have turned their backs on slides and black &white photography for the sake of instant images with digital. I had too, but soon returned to those more permanent images.
The images that I have chosen to display are not based on there photographic perfection but as a record of an event. I consider myself to be a recorder of history and not a "professional" rail photographer. While some will spend hours, days, years trying for that illusive perfect photo, I prefer to capture the rare, the unique, and the common for the future.
Some things to keep in mind when viewing these images:
- Respect the copyright.
